What is Disc Golf?
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf - but instead of clubs and balls, players throw specially designed flying discs at a target, which is usually a metal basket with chains but can also be a tree, post, lamp post etc. Courses usually have 9 or 18 holes, and the aim is simple: complete each hole in the fewest throws possible.
Each hole starts from a tee area, with players throwing from where their last disc landed until they sink it into the basket (or hit the stated target). Trees, terrain, and other obstacles add challenges along the way - just like ball golf!
Disc golf courses are often found in public parks and Forestry England sites here in the UK, with many free to play, while others are pay-to-play or are dedicated courses - so it’s always best to check in advance. The sport is accessible, affordable, and fun for all ages and abilities.
We also offer a membership programme that gives you free or reduced-rate access to selected courses - check out our Membership Programme page for more details.
If you’re new to the sport or looking for somewhere to play, UDisc is one of the most widely used disc golf course directories worldwide and is a great place to find your local course.
