What is there to say about the Destroyer that hasn't already been said? Sure, there are lots of discs that claim to be a better distance driver but test any of them side-by-side against the Destroyer and it's clear they are all just trying to recreate the lightning that was bottled by Dave Dunnipace when he created this mold. And yes, we all know that not all Destroyers are created equal, and bad runs often drop in between the good and greats. So, the question really is: how does this 2X Ricky run fly versus a standard Star or perhaps a Sockibot stamp? (I cannot comment versus the Calvin Halo because I won't pay that kind of money for a disc that I will realistically shank away into Lala-land). From a visual comparison, there is much less of a "shoulder" when compared to the stock stamp, and also a much flatter profile. This makes it more comfortable for a forehand grip and also feels faster coming out of the hand. Compared to the Sockibot, though, the 2X has more of a dome, and while not quite a pop-top, it feels stiffer on the flight plate than the Sockibot (mine has almost puddle topped over time, making it very easy to press my thumb down into the backhand grip). In practical terms, the stock stamp flips up much easier for me than the 2X, and can actually stretch out further at the cost of accuracy and control. I would actually say that Champion plastic stock stamps are the way to go for the longest drives after to an appropriate level of beating in. But the 2X in Star is my choice for serious headwind shots in cold/damp weather, as it has the better grip and seems less likely to suffer a highspeed turnover than the Sockibot. It gives up about 5m to 20m in max distance to the Sockibot and Champ stock stamp on a flat drive, but the distance evens out on anhyzer distance lines, with the 2X noticeably more OS in the fade and giving you that classic S-line, especially on the forehand. For reference, I am hitting 120m with accuracy on a slight hyzer (which occasionally comes with a bonus 10m skip), and 130m+ on a full flat rip, in still conditions.
